POSTPARTUM & INFANT CARE SUPPORT

Congratulations !

You’re probably here because you’re expecting a baby and you’re trying to be smart as you plan for your postpartum. You know that you want to feel empowered and confident through that season and having a plan for a support is the answer for that.
Or you have just had a baby and you’re seeing that having help and support as you’re navigating life through these uncharted waters, is just a no brainer.

Traditionally, when a woman had a baby, other women came to her home and surrounded her with care. They would cook nourishing meals for her and help out with her household so that she can bond with her baby and rest enough to heal and recover properly.

These traditions have been lost with the time passing, but the physiology of the postpartum body has not changed. Nor have the needs for rest, healing, nutrition and emotional support of new mothers.
Our mission is to bring these traditions back. We strive to slow down the immediate postpartum, turn away from the high and unrealistic expectations of our current society and provide wholesome, compassionate and life-changing support to the families that hire us.

The days, weeks and months after the childbirth, may bring some expected and some unexpected challenges. Those may make people feel out of control, they may bring feelings of uncertainty and stress and that may lead to anxiety, have negative effects on breastfeeding, the mother’s well being and therefore negatively impact the whole family unit.
Our support provides physical help, emotional care and the peace of mind that you are not in this alone. Knowing that you have someone by your side who cares for you, trusts you and encourages you and knowing that education, information and support is available non stop, is just invaluable.

We do what we do so that you and your whole family can experience the positive and ‘peaceful postpartum’ that will have lasting effects in this lifetime and in the generations to come!

When you hire the Above and Beyond Doula, you are getting a professional, non judgmental and experienced care and support that's personalized to your unique needs.

Dominika is an expert on babies! Not only is she a trained and certified postpartum and infant care doula, she has also gained lots of experience caring for her own 4 children and supporting many other parents throughout the journey of parenthood.
She knows oh so well, the importance of rest, bonding and healing during the postpartum season.
She is also very well aware of the impact that the lack of sleep and stress has on your emotional and mental health.
I strongly believe that we were not created to manage everything on our own. Humans were given humans to support each other and care for one another. No one is meant to juggle everything and succeed in everything on their own.

It is always nice to have someone by your side to support you, encourage you and help you out.
How much nicer it would be to have a trained, experienced and skilled professional!

Read through some of the ways your doula can support you.

What is your parenting philosophy? Is it attachment or scheduled parenting. Or something in between?
Whatever you believe is right for your family, your doula will support you.
She can also gently assist you in figuring out your parenting philosophy by asking thought provoking questions to lead you to discovering your own preferences.

Whatever is your preferred way to feed your baby, your experienced doula will be able to provide professional support.
From suggesting breastfeeding positions, evaluating latch or dealing with cracked nipples, to preparing formula or cleaning the pump parts.
She’s your girl! Unbiased support for mom, full tummy for the baby 🙂

Sleep is important! It’s important for your baby and it’s important for you too!
Overnight shifts with us provide some much needed rest for you and your partner, while your doula gently helps your baby to learn the difference between day and night.
If you exclusively breastfeed, your doula will quietly bring you the baby for a nursing session.

The immediate postpartum season is not easy.
Women often deal with heavy feelings and emotions as they face the changes and navigate through the unknown. Having a supportive person that can listen to you without judgement can make a world of difference.
Your doula is trained to support you as you go through this transition and also to recognize if a professional help might be helpful.
Your compassionate doula understands the challenges that come with this season. There is no reason you should go through this alone.

There is something magical about the time when you bring your new baby home. All you want to do is to just sit and snuggle your baby. And that’s what you should do. Physical rest and healing is very important.
But this magical time isn’t magical enough to keep the dishes away or laundry folded.
And your doula is there to help you and your partner with some of the daily little things in your home, including preparing simple snacks and meals to keep you nourished 🙂

Proper nutrition in postpartum is essential for the physical recovery, hormonal balance, mental health and milk production. Certified in postpartum nutrition, we can help with preparing meals that are nourishing to the new mother.

Additionally, we can help with meal prep for the whole family. Dominika is an amazing cook 😉

Chances are that right now you don’t know what all you might need from your postpartum doula and that is ok.
Each season and each circumstance brings it’s own challenges and needs.
Having the peace and confidence that you’re not alone and no matter what, you will be supported can already take a huge burden off your shoulders.
Just to mention couple things, such as, baby wearing, cloth diapering, sibling care, baby gear… your doula is an expert.
Your doula got you!
